About The Author 

Richard Reibstein is the founder and Director of the Regulated Community Compliance Project at Boston University, where he teaches environmental law and policy in the Department of Earth and Environment.  He was named the 2015 Pollution Prevention Champion from the National Pollution Prevention Roundtable, and was the recipient of the 2000 Individual Environmental Merit Award from the US Environmental Protection Agency.  Mr. Reibstein's work was recognized in two Ford Foundation awards for Innovation in State Government received by the program he served.  For 27 years Mr. Reibstein helped develop and manage the Office of Technical Assistance for Toxics Use Reduction for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, working with hundreds of facilities to reduce the use of toxic substances, energy and water, and comply with relevant laws. Mr. Reibstein also helped the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency launch its efforts to stem the tide of electronic wastes, the countries of Chile, Brazil, and Estonia to establish pollution prevention programs.
